Collaboration Opportunities and Follow Up

Have you ever witnessed a great meeting between two professionals? I am sure you have. And then … Oh we will certainly keep in touch, let’s do this!
One person sends information and shows their excitement, while the receiving party never responds.
Here are some basic rules for this game:
We all want our small businesses to succeed. So when someone shows genuine interest and acts on their side, do the same.
It’s very impolite to not respond to messages.
It shows that you are either not taking your business seriously, or that you simply don’t care.
Good collaborations don’t come by the dozen, nor do they knock on your door often.
So take this advice to heart.
Show other professionals that you mean what you say.
Thank them if they promote your business on their website, blog etc.
Act on your verbal promises, such as: Let’s get together and talk next week.
Nobody will beg or ask you twice. You are either a go-getter and want to take your business to the next possible level or you don’t.
It’s as simple as that.
Don’t expect second and third chances. We are all trying to help each other, lift each other up and succeed.
REPLY to your messages.
Don’t hide behind the lame “I am busy” excuse. We are all busy.
Show that you are as interested as you first said you were.
Get organized. It takes a village people!

About confusion…

Everyone nowadays posts either on Twitter or Facebook that they like positive vibes, how leading a great life filled with positive energy will bring success and happiness. I encounter people daily who say that they are all about this new era of what “The Secret” and other inspiring book have taught us.

But when it comes to walking the walk, they come back astonished that things do not go their way that they are tired of the negative, they don’t want failure, they don’t want more of the same.
It took me 6 whole months to re-train my brain and my thoughts. It is very easy to say these things, to quote books and to like the whole idea, but it is not the same to actually focus and make things happen to you. This is what I call confusion. There is no magic potion that will solve anyone’s problems or make anyone’s dreams reality. You have to work for it.
Train your thoughts to “speak a new language”. Forget words like “I don’t want”, “I don’t like”, “I hate this”, in other words, forget any sentence that starts with a negative.
Instead try re-learning a brain grammar that always starts with: “I want”, “I like”, “I love”.
This is the first step. In the beginning it will seem like an enormous task, but as time goes on, it will come automatic. Remember that “What you think about, you bring about” and that the universe does not speak in human grammar terms. If you keep saying “I don’t want to be broke”, guess what? You’ll be broke because you focus on that sentiment.

I speak from my own experience.  As soon as I truthfully let everything go, as soon as I completely relaxed my thoughts, things started happening so fast that at first I thought that it was a fluke. No, it was no fluke. It was actually happening. Thoughts like “struggle”, “can barely make it”, “I am tired”, “I don’t know what I want”, “I don’t know how to solve this or the other problem” were left behind and now, I cringe simply writing them.
I started thinking: “easy”, “have plenty of what I want”, “I have abundance all around me”.
I wake up every day thanking the universe for everything that I have, and everything that I am.  I walk smiling, I say hello to people that cross my path and I see their reactions. They pause for a second and then they actually smile and return the greeting.

My business is flourishing, I feel healthy, happy and fulfilled.
A trick I personally used was a mental list of wants and needs.  You will be amazed at how small the list of needs is when you are honest and truthful.  Another thing is giving back to your community, to your friends, to your significant other. This thought frightens a lot of people when they come from a needy point of view. You don’t have to give money; you can simply help a friend, make a meal for someone you care about, call friends and family, and send a nice thank you note. Little things go a long way.

If it is your business that you are struggling with, sit back, relax and see yourself as successful. Don’t laugh! It really works. See obstacles like life’s traffic lights. The universe always guides us if we are willing to give it an honest try and listen.

So, open your hearts and minds, do not criticize others, absorb what is going on around you and be thankful. Be really thankful every single day. Live in the moment and make it count!

Saying Thank you

There are people out there who take anything for granted. In our hectic world things get lost in the shuffle. This is not ok under any circumstances.
Despite what people think, there is still etiquette in business of every kind, and it applies to all,
whether it is an assistant, a manager, a business owner, or a colleague. People in every level of the workforce do their work, a lot of them go out of their way to help, take the extra step to make things easier.
The right thing to do is to respond immediately, and send a short thank you note. There is no excuse for taking anyone’s efforts and work for granted. It shows poor manners, poor judgment and in the end lack of politeness. The oxymoron here is that the same people who do not reply or acknowledge what you do for them, complain when they need something and it is not done or they do not get a response.
Guess what? You can’t have it both ways!
I have spoken about organizing your work but I am writing now about the way to be a great leader, colleague, manager, employer, and friend.
Networking, doing business of any kind, being present in today’s communities, businesses and relationships, doesn’t allow you to be nonchalant, forgetful, or dismissive.
Thank you is a word that takes you very far, whether you send an email, call someone, text them or simply talk to them.
When I train people the first thing I mention is, that being “there”, assertive, honest and giving it your all will take you far. BUT there is another aspect to this. Gratitude is another big asset. Whether you are grateful for someone’s work or help, or when someone thanks you for what you’ve done, makes all the difference. It validates your efforts, and of course makes you want to work twice as hard knowing that your work is being appreciated.
When I say work I encompass every action; an interesting introduction, a first time meeting, an assignment well done, a completion of a flawless event, you name it.
We need to be aware of other people’s kindness, hard work and existence. When we dismiss anyone, we will “get what we pay for”. The people surrounding us, will not give it another thought, will just do their daily tasks and will not go out of their way any longer to make sure that you are served.
And when we talk about free lancers, people for hire, independent contractors, professionals of every kind who work with clients, beware!  If you are the client, you might get dropped, because although in today’s market people need their hard earned money, they’d rather work with less clients and be acknowledged and heard, than work with someone who doesn’t apply themselves, is dismissive, forgetful and disorganized.
Think about this and if you implement some good manners, and start listening to people who you hire for their expertise, you will end up being more successful, better in your field and have an easier life!

Finding the much needed extra income

I receive a ton of business opportunities daily asking me to add a link on my website. There are so many “home based business” opportunities out there, and I never want to post anything that will either mislead my readers and clients, or be a scam.
Most of us need extra income these days to add to our incomes, in order to cover expenses, mortgages, tuition and so much more.

I found one company that is solid, real and if you want to make a good income, you can do so.
Here’s what they are saying:

It isn’t always easy to find exactly what one is looking for, but this company is worth the try. If you decide to make the call, mention me, so they will give you extra care.
I will try to post more legitimate and solid opportunities like these, as they come to me. I scrutinize everything before I post here or on my site.

Keep coming back for more!
