Password Risks

After what I witnessed helping a friend the other day, I need to alert everyone.
We can never assume and take for granted that everyone who has an online presence is technically savvy.
A few examples: Doctors, Plumbers, Electricians, Architects, Hair Stylists and many more.
All these people are trying to land customers, and have a LinkedIn account, a Facebook account, a Twitter account and maybe an Instagram account.
The big risk here is the password use. Was helping my friend to update his Facebook page and noticed something that alarmed me.
He was using ONE yes ONE password for everything. His Bank account, his Social Media pages and his email.
I explained a few things and he thanked me for saving the day.
So here are some basic rules for everyone to follow:

  1. NEVER USE ONLY ONE PASSWORD FOR EVERYTHING.
  2. HAVE ONE PASSWORD FOR BANKING, ANOTHER FOR EMAIL AND ANOTHER FOR SOCIAL MEDIA.
  3. NEVER USE YOUR NAME, BIRTH DATE, MAILING ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER AS A PASSWORD.
  4. TRY TO USE NUMBERS AND LETTERS AS WELL AS SOME *&^%
  5. IF YOU ARE NOT USING LASTPASS, CHROME OR OTHER PASSWORD MANAGER: Open an Excel Sheet and create a password list to remember them.
  6. MAKE IT A HABIT TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORDS A FEW TIMES PER YEAR.
I hope that this will help. If you are unsure, or have questions, please fell free to contact me and I will help you with this very important task.
Stay safe in the world wide web everyone!

California Consumer Privacy Act

By Rebecca Sentance June 18th 2019
2018 was the year of GDPR: the General Data Protection Regulation, a comprehensive update to privacy laws enacted by the European Union.
The legislation, adopted by the European Parliament in 2016, formally came into force on the 25th May 2018, and the months leading up to GDPR’s enforcement saw businesses and marketers across the world racing to comply with its requirements by this deadline. Repermissioning emails were sent in droves, new marketing technology was created to track consent, and websites were blocked to EU visitors on “GDPR day” in a bid to give their owners more time to comply.

Are we living with too much baggage?

Awake late at night, helps me think, write and make life decisions.
Are we spoiled?
Are we demanding way too much of our lives?
Have we replaced quality with quantity?

Today’s society has planted new rules in our brains. We MUST succeed with our career, we MUST live in a great home, drive a great car, and the list goes on.
Have we realized how fast life goes by?
Have we realized that we are willingly sacrificing family moments, friends, fun and plain old relaxation to the little voice in our heads that has us convinced that we always need MORE?

More work
More money

And one day we wake up, a family member is really sick and we are jolted to reality. What are we doing?

Let’s think about this for a minute: We come to this world naked, and we depart with a pair of clothes. EVERYTHING else is on loan.
We will take NOTHING to the next stage. No career, no cars, no money, NOTHING!

So sit back and evaluate what you want out of LIFE. Not out of career, not out of money. Just LIFE.

Is any job or career worth our health, well-being, and lost opportunities to live a quality life?

It takes some guts, but sometimes just saying “I respectfully step down from my position”, is the biggest gift you can give yourself.
A gift that will be shared with family, significant others, and that will give you the opportunity to reboot, recharge, and help the ones in need around you with great joy. Family comes first. Do not forget that.

Some of you will ask: But money? It’s not all about money.

As a very dear friend Robert Emmons wrote in his book Six Thousand Sunrises:
Wrap your arms around your dreams,
drive off the naysayers and philistines,
embrace your new tomorrow with the passion to make your dreams, your truth.
